Nursery Inspiration & Upcoming Projects!

I have lots to do for this sweet little miss that is arriving in under 8 weeks! However, I do have spring break in there which will allow me to hopefully knock lots of these fun projects out.

First project that started this week are curtains. Mine will be a gray ruffle curtain.

Here is my inspiration:
The first picture is the waterfall curtain from Urban. It is a single panel that is $89.00. YUP, EEEEKKK! Holy expensive. My ruffles will be vertical like the second photo and my curtain cost me under $30.00 and I will be making these myself. That's more like it.

Crib skirt is the next on the list. It took me FOOOOOOOOREVVVVVER to find the perfect material. But I did, I found it!! I ended up getting 2 yards of it for $25.00 with shipping. Not too bad. A lot of material/fabrics online can be rather pricey. I was super excited to find out that my fabric is from the Dwell Studio. Which I love all Dwell Studio fabrics. Here is my fabric.

My inspiration for the crib skirt

Using the coral peony fabric I have with some other gray fabric I will create a layered ruffle crib skirt. Can't wait!

Next up the lamp shade lighting. This will go above my rocking chair in the nursery. My mom and I have collected the lamp shades and tore off the fabric to them so we can add new fabric like the picture below. I will of course be using neutral colors along with a pop of coral for these lamp shades. So chic and vintage, can't wait to finish this project!

Your typical mobile over the crib will consist of a variety of small pom balls and some fabric rosette like objects. You would think after my wedding I'm done with pom balls holy cow, between me, my family, my wedding party and dear friend Karena we made enough of these things! lol! But I do love the way they look. I would like to get a hold of some coral doilies for these pom balls. Here is my inspiration.
Fabric Pom Balls

Paper Doily Pom Balls. The lady is on maternity who sells them so my options would be to find another person who hand dies them or I will have to hand dye them coral. Sounds like a challenge, we will see!

Next up Lamp Shade Ruffle that will be on the dresser. I have a few options and haven't decided what I will do but here are some pictures of my ideas.

Below are some other random inspiration ideas I will be creating.
Blue glass mason jars- I have a ton from our wedding I hope to use. I have some old vintage milk bottles that I got at an antique mall that I will be using. I also like these painted jars, look very unique and vintage.

Baby Announcement. We have so many vintage windows from Brian's old house that we used at our wedding that I'd like to incorporate with in the nursery.

These paper lined jars are super unique too. I just need to find some paper that would go along with our color scheme for the nursery.

This is one of my favorites. I plan on make this out of a piece of wood and stencil! So sweet.

Love these old crates. I have a handful from our wedding we can use. I already have one crate in the nursery that is holding books. I'd like to stencil something on the outside of the crate & possible add wheels. So sweet!

Crib banner, these are so sweet. Not sure what I would like mine to say or if it will just be fabric or rosettes! I love these banners.

That's it for now. I could go on and on but I will keep it short!! Can't wait to meet this Little Miss!

Maternity Pics

We have been working hard on the nursery and the house. Stay tuned for inspiration photos and some photos of projects I will be doing for the nursery!

I have a quick photo of a project I finished two weeks ago. It's a Menu board for our kitchen. We seem to do better when we are organized and plan our meals out! Not to mention Brian loves dry erase boards and wanted me to somehow incorporate one into our everyday life. So I did a dry erase Menu Board. My hubbie hung it in our kitchen today. Yipppee! First, I will show you my inspiration:

Here is mine that I created. It cost me under $5.00. The door my wonderful mommy found in the trash some where. I got the scrapbook paper and letters to put on it. The cute vintage teal knob my mom got at Hobby Lobby awhile ago. Tada!
The glare on the window is not allowing me to show how CUTE this Menu really turned out, but hey you get the idea!

Lately I have been under the weather. I have been battling this horrible cold for over a week and a half. This has literally kicked my butt. I have ZERO energy and it really stinks cause all I want to do is lay on the couch. The last thing I wanna do is chase around my whack-a-do 3rd graders!  I finally took a day off Friday and went to the dr. This head cold turned into a horrible ear infection, my luck! So the dr did give me medicine thank GOODNESS and it's slowly working. I did a little more today as far as running errands but I'm perfect content with relaxing on the couch.

Here are our Maternity Pics that we had my friend Amy take at The Rye Studio! We got in for one of her mini sessions and turned it into maternity pics! We love them, they turned out great. Very simple, yet creative and capture the moment. We didn't want anything over the top and we didn't want a million pics of me pregnant. Just enough to capture the moment for our little miss! They turned out great. Here they are!

How far along: 32 weeks
Total weight gain: 23 pounds
Maternity clothes: Work pants and jeans. The bigger I get the harder it's getting to stretch my shirts, lol! I am having a harder time going shopping and not being able to buy adorable spring dresses, swimsuits, cover ups, etc. UGH! I can't wait to be a normal size so I can get my Summer shopping on!
Stretch marks: I'm getting a few little red lines here and there.
Sleep: Not so great since I've been sick. I am seeming to wake up every single night at 2:30 and cannot go back to sleep. It's not because I'm uncomfortable from being pregnant. For some reason I wake up at the same time and cannot go back to sleep! I miss my uninterrupted sleep nights. Guess I'm gearing up for parenthood, yippee!
Best moment: Getting the nursing/rocking chair, crib, changing dresser and dresser up in the nursery! All furniture is set! YAY!
Miss anything: Sleep
Movement: Lots
Food cravings: apples, peanut butter, pineapple, sharp cheddar cheese and salads still. I started loving ICE and captain crunch cereal!
Queasy or sick: nope
Showing: Oh yes!
Gender: Girl
Labor signs: just Braxton Hicks
Belly button: Is in. Finally took my belly button ring out. Guess I'm growing up or something?
Wedding rings: On
Mood: Exhausted but happy!
Looking forward to: Getting the KS Reading Assessment over with this week with my 3rd graders. Also our after school Boost Program is OVER which means I get to leave work everyday at 3:30. AAHHHHMAZING! Also, excited to start on some nursery projects this week like the curtains!

30 weeks and guess what????

Hey all! I didn't have a chance to post anything last week about week 29. We went to the doctor. The baby's heart sounds great. I did some lab work. Everything came back great except my blood platelets which are rather low. The only thing this means is that I will have to be retested in a few weeks to see if they increased any and they are thinking I cannot have an epidural, or any drugs during labor because of the chances of me bleeding severely. Soooo.... I was planning a natural birth anyways with the option of possibly getting an epidural. So this changes my mindset. I will be doing this the natural way. Guess I will start researching more on this!

On to the good news...... WE ARE LANDLORDS. YIPEEE!!! We got Brian's house rented out. This is tremendous news. Holy cow I am not really sure how we pulled this off in less than 2 weeks. We've been praying and praying for this. Our goal was to get this taken care of before baby arrived. Well ladies and gents check it off that BIG long list of ours. We have ONE MORTGAGE. Holy cow. Whatever are we going to do with all THIS extra money? I never thought THOSE words would be coming out of my mouth. ha! Ohhhhhh I am sure we will find something to do with it, which means fixing up our house and saving saving saving. :)

Here are some fun things I've been working on in my spare time which has been non existent really....

I found this idea on a blog. I wish I can remember to give her credit! This is super cheesy but felt like Brian needed some sweet little motivation while we have been frantically rushing around trying to get his house ready! So I did 14 days of Valentine's day for him. I left him a little surprise every morning. Here are a few of them.

We were running low and needed some of these dryer sheets. HA!

I told you they were cheesy. But sometimes it's the little things in life that make you smile!

I also made a yummie Valentine's Monster Cookie I found on Pinterest. Here is how it turned out....Very pretty and extremely delicious!
I must make these again!! Too yummie!

On to the baby bump pictures......

How far along: 30 weeks
Total weight gain: 22 pounds
Maternity clothes: Work pants and jeans. I have managed to somehow buy no maternity clothes. I love it. I will say it was a little depressing when I went shopping today and saw ADORABLE spring dresses out. Can't wait to fit back into these for summer time!
Stretch marks: I'm getting a few little red lines here and there.
Sleep: Good, our little miss seems to do flips in the middle of the night so that wakes me up sometimes.
Best moment: This week there are two things. First thing we haven't had anytime to do maternity pics and they really have just been forgotten since we have had so much on our plate. And let's be honest time is ticking and I'm only getting bigger by the moment. Our sweet friend Amy had a mini session special and we were able to have her take our pics! It was short and sweet and fit into our hectic schedule. We just want a few pictures to show our daughter can't wait to see these done! I know they will turn out great. The second thing was finding crib fabric, and getting it ordered! It's gray & coral. Can't wait to start making the bedding.
Miss anything: I miss sneezing and liking it. I love to sneeze because it feels so good, haha weird I know! It does not feel good now that I'm pregnant. It is rather painful and takes my breath away!
Movement: More and more
Food cravings: The latest is pineapple, Honey Crisp apples and crunchy peanut butter! I went almost went through a large tub of peanut butter this week. Brian was shocked, haha. However I don't really eat meat so this is how I am getting my protein. Yum Yum Yum!
Queasy or sick: nope
Showing: Oh yes! Just when I don't think I can get bigger, I do!
Gender: Girl
Labor signs: nope, just Braxton Hicks
Belly button: It's still in and so is my belly button ring
Wedding rings: On
Mood: Happy!!! Getting tired a little earlier at night. Hoping this energy I have isn't slowly leaving me.
Looking forward to: Only teaching my whack-a-doo 3rd graders for 3 days this week and most of all I am more than ready to have a 4 day weekend this next weekend. I need to get some nursery stuff done and want to feel refreshed again!

28 weeks, Hello 3RD Trimester!

Hey All! We are in the last trimester, wohooo! We are feeling awesome, actually we are really exhausted. We have been working on Brian's house non stop. I even took off a day of work this week to hit it hard. I spent 9 hours, cleaning, packing, throwing away stuff. I think I over did it. I was so sore the next day and have now been getting Braxton Hicks contractions. But hey that's okay we got so much done and it was well worth it! Brian has been working non stop on his house. Between his full time job and part time job that's all he does. He can obviously do a lot more than I can as far as move lots of the big heavy stuff, so keep up the good work babe, we are almost done! It's sure coming along and we are working all week this week on it as well.  Woohoo we can't wait to have it finished.

I have been working on our entry way table this week. This is a piece my mom got for our wedding. She found it on the side of the curb, yup another free one! Gotta love it. We used it for our Photo Booth. It was used to hold all our cute props. It was a minty green when we got it and we left it that color for the wedding. It was super cute. I posted pictures to my Facebook of me painting it gray, and then distressing it. Here is the final product, I'M OBSESSED!

Isn't she beautiful! Ahhhh I love it. I will say the pictures don't do this thing justice. All the detail looks amazing in person. I am even slightly obsessed with how well this turned out, that we might be doing the two dressers for the nursery with this color. It goes really well with the carpet, room color and our crib is a dark espresso color. PERFECT! We will see. Once we are done with Brian's house within the next week we will move our focus back to the nursery!

Teal Armoire finished & moved in!

This week we got our new piece of furniture moved into our kitchen, HORRAY! My mother and I worked on this piece together. She got it for free on the side of the road about a year ago. It's a huge piece that is nice and sturdy. It was originally an oak color. She then primed it white. Her and I painted it two coats with a teal paint. Then we sanded/distressed the crap out of this thing. Last we stained it with a dark dark dark wood stain. It turned out PERFECT! It only cost me a total of $23.00 for the paint and stain. AMAZING! This piece of furniture has lots of storage and will be used for baby items. Here she is, isn't she lovely?

While I was taking picture of this lovely piece I took some other pictures of our new carpet. Take a peek. I am in the process of redecorating so stay tuned for more updated pictures of the decor. The pictures really do not do the carpet justice. It's soooo shaggy and sooo cozy! But you will get the idea.
